Motivation

The client approached Azati with a request to optimize the performance of the Smith-Waterman algorithm, which is crucial for sequence alignment in bioinformatics. The goal was to significantly reduce the time required to perform sequence searches, especially those involving large datasets, without compromising the accuracy or completeness of the results. By improving the algorithm's efficiency, the client aimed to enhance the speed of their research processes while maintaining the high accuracy that is essential in biotechnology research.

Main Challenges

Challenge 1
Manual and Time-Consuming Data Collection

The company manually collected inspection results in XLS forms and processed them later in the office, which was inefficient and delayed access to performance metrics. Azati proposed a mobile application with offline capabilities to allow real-time data entry and seamless synchronization with the corporate portal.

Challenge 2
Lack of Real-Time Reporting and Analytics

The Quality Assurance team lacked an automated way to process inspection data and generate reports in real time, which slowed down decision-making and transparency. Azati addressed this by building a web-based corporate portal that automatically processes incoming inspection data and generates up-to-date reports and analytics.

Key Features

  • Mobile Application: Real-time geolocation tracking and inspection capabilities with offline functionality.
  • Corporate Portal: Real-time data aggregation, reporting, statistics, and flowcharts.
  • Supply Ordering Automation: Automated supply ordering with monthly budgets and real-time delivery tracking.

Our Approach

Requirements Gathering and Consulting
Azati collaborated with the client to understand the existing manual processes and define technical requirements that aligned with the QA team's operational goals.
Mobile Application Development
A cross-platform mobile app was developed with real-time geolocation tracking and offline functionality, allowing inspectors to perform on-site inspections without connectivity issues.
Geo-fencing Implementation
Geo-fences were configured for 450+ customer facilities, enabling the app to detect proximity and suggest buildings that require inspection based on predefined criteria.
Corporate Web Portal Development
A web-based portal was built to collect inspection data from mobile devices, process it automatically, and provide real-time access to reports, statistics, and visual dashboards.
Continuous Improvement
Over three years, the solution was enhanced with additional features including offline inspection mode, automated supply ordering with budget controls, visit time tracking, and a public-facing analytics dashboard.

Project Impact

Improved Efficiency: The solution significantly increased the efficiency of the Quality Assurance team's work, enabling faster inspections and reporting.

Time Savings: The offline functionality allowed inspectors to work without internet access, speeding up the inspection process.

Increased Transparency: The real-time data collection and reporting gave management better visibility into employee activities and facility performance.
