UI/UX Design for a Mobile Auto Parts Market

Azati assisted a CIS startup in creating a user-friendly mobile application design aimed at replacing the offline market for buying and selling auto parts. The goal was to provide a fast, convenient, and efficient platform for car enthusiasts, allowing them to search and order auto parts based on specific criteria.

Motivation

The aim was to create a mobile app that streamlines the search, comparison, and ordering of auto parts. The platform had to be intuitive, user-friendly, and focused on advanced search features, allowing buyers and sellers to interact efficiently. Azati’s task was to implement business logic, design an application map, and develop a modern, intuitive user interface for a custom online marketplace.

Main Challenges

Challenge 1
Tight Deadlines

The project had extremely tight deadlines, with the entire development process spanning only 8-10 days. The customer required a fast turnaround without sacrificing the quality of the design, making it difficult to conduct in-depth user research or usability testing.

Challenge 2
Niche Audience

The target audience was quite specific: people working with auto parts. The design needed to resonate with this narrow demographic, yet the lack of time for proper market research made it challenging to pinpoint the exact preferences and behavior of users.

Key Features

  • Advanced Search Filters: The app allows users to search for auto parts based on specific criteria, making it easier for buyers to find exactly what they need without sifting through irrelevant results.
  • Buyer and Seller Interaction: Buyers can create purchase offers by setting up filters, which the system uses to generate offers automatically. Sellers can respond to these offers with product details, photos, and pricing, facilitating a smooth transaction process.
  • Order Placement and Confirmation: Once a buyer accepts an offer, an order is placed, and the seller confirms it. The app then facilitates the delivery of the auto parts either through mail or courier service, depending on the buyer's chosen option.

Our Approach

Understanding the Business
We began by thoroughly understanding the customer’s goals and objectives, identifying user needs and behaviors, and gathering insights from the customer on their vision for the app.
Study and Research
Despite the short timeframe, we conducted independent research, studied competitors, and analyzed similar services to ensure the design was effective and met the market's demands.
Idea Generation and Scenario Development
We generated design ideas based on the customer’s requirements and mapped out key user scenarios to ensure the app provided the most relevant and useful functionality to both buyers and sellers.
Prototyping and Design Development
We created frameworks for the app's interface and began implementing the design elements, focusing on simplicity and usability. Given the time constraints, the UI was kept minimalistic but functional, offering an intuitive experience.

Project Impact

The mobile app successfully replaced the traditional offline market, offering car owners and auto part suppliers an easy and fast platform for transactions.

The streamlined search, advanced filtering system, and seamless buyer-seller communication have improved the buying and selling process for auto parts, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
